跟繪畫相比,攝影是那么年輕的圖像媒體。這次《時代周刊》邀請到來自全世界的策展人、歷史學家、圖片編輯等組成選片專家團,選出了攝影誕生以來最有影響力的100張照片。無疑,這是一個非常冗長費力的過程,在同攝影師、相片主角、以及他們的親友等進行了幾千次訪談后,編輯部才最終敲定了這 100 張來自各個時期不同主題的當世之作,并挖掘了許多背后的故事。
也沒有一個方程式去決定一張相片夠不夠“有影響力”,有些是某一門類攝影題材的鼻祖,有些啟發了我們的思考,還有一些則直接改變了我們的生活。
“這100張相片所共有的特點在于,它們是我們人類經驗上的轉折。”負責此次專題的《時代周刊》編輯團隊寫道。
在選定名單的過程中,編輯部也重新認識到一個貫穿近兩個世紀攝影史的重要元素:攝影師必須在場。攝影是一種見證的形式,是將單一視角帶給整個世界的方式。正是圖片的力量,讓Alexander Gardner在1862年用馬載著他的暗箱來到安提塔姆之戰,讓David Guttenfelder從2013年開始深入朝鮮拍攝照片上傳到Instagram。戰地攝影師James Nachtwey曾經這樣說過,“你一直不停、不停地傳送照片,因為它們可以創造出存在改變可能的環境。我一直這樣相信。”
